Portrayal of Augmented Reality in Online Shopping, 2022

Maya

As a Web Programming and Design major interested in user experience, I find that geometric modeling relays the importance of the utilization of space and elements in web design. I used my project to highlight the benefits of utilizing augmented reality for online shopping. Augmented reality is an interactive method for online users to integrate digital enhancements into everyday settings. From Snapchat filters to Pokémon Go, AR has become a greater part of the next generation’s everyday lives than we even realize. Additionally, E-commerce has taken the world by storm over the last decade. An online poll from Statista reports that 43% of US shoppers prefer shopping online over brick and mortar stores. My project represents the simplicity of shopping with the use of AR. A person can shop online for clothes, furniture, shoes, and more with the help of AR technology. According to Shopify, 66% of consumers take interest in utilizing AR while buying online. It’s incredible relevance in the present can only increase as the technology improves. My final design is inspired by an app called Vyking, a virtual try-on platform specializing in to-scale 3D shoes. The Maya model depicts the simplicity of pointing your camera at your foot to mimic the reality of trying on products.
